Winnipeg Sea Bears History
The Winnipeg Sea Bears are a professional basketball team in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CBL). Founded in 2022, the Sea Bears are the latest expansion team to join the CBL’s Western Conference. In their inaugural 2023 season, Winnipeg placed second in the Western Conference and advanced to the play-in game of the 2023 CEBL playoffs. The 2023 squad also became the first one in CEBL history to collect four major league awards in a single season, with recipients for Most Valuable Player (Teddy Allen), Coach of the Year (Mike Taylor), Sixth Man of the Year (Jelani Watson-Gayle) and U SPORTS Player of the Year (Simon Hildebrandt).

Winnipeg Sea Bears at Canada Life Centre
Canada Life Centre is the home of the CEBL’s Winnipeg Sea Bears. Opened in 2004, Canada Life Centre is located in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba and has hosted the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets since 2011. In their first season, the Sea Bears led the league in average attendance and placed first in total season attendance by a margin of over 20,000 fans. Winnipeg set a CEBL attendance record at their inaugural 2023 home opener, which they broke once again later that season in their first playoff matchup at Canada Life Centre.

The sea bears continue to knock it out of the park with a fun atmosphere. Win or lose it’s a party. They’re tickets are also very affordable to take the family for a night out.

My son and I attended the game bs Calgary on Tuesday July 23 and had a blast! Reasonably priced tickets, exciting basketball and a great atmosphere. All 11,000+ fans were into the game from the opening tip off and bumped it up a notch when the target score was announced. So many young people having a great time! My son thought it was funny that I was maybe the oldest fan there! (And I don’t think I’m that old!). Can’t wait for the playoffs!
From the pre-game street party to the post-game meet and sign and everything in between, the Sea Bear game was an awesome incredible experience. Lots to do with the kiddos and really entertaining product on the court!
First Sea Bears game for our family and it did not disappoint. Great atmosphere and very affordable. We thoroughly enjoyed the excitement especially in the last 4 minutes of the game. Highly recommend it!

Great atmosphere and good production values. Action was great from get go, and good quality basketball. Win was a bonus. A bit of a long lineup for mens washroom at 1/2 time.
This was my first time at the game and I went with my family who has been before. We had an awesome time and I love the vibe of the games! Fun for everyone…families, kids, adults… can’t wait to go again!

Very entertaining. The game was fabulous. The arena needs to open more gates so there isn’t such crazy line ups to get in.
Seabears are a great addition to Winnipeg. I just don’t understand why the games start so late with how many kids it attracts. 6:30 or 7:00 start would be doable but 7:30 is too late to pull off with young kids

This was our first Sea Bears basketball game and definitely will not be our last. It was fun, energetic and family focused. The game was fantastic. It was well organized and the stuff was phenomenal. A great experience and budget friendly.!!!
I must say I enjoyed this more than the jets or bombers. The atmosphere was amazing and most def going back again
it was so much fun ! I took my dad for Father’s Day and we both enjoyed it so much. The entire experience was exciting, there was something for everyone (ex. Poster making for kids was available), the activities were engaging (ex. Halftime entertainment, cheerleaders, the Fan Cam). Would definitely go again
