Saskatchewan Roughriders History
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional team in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and one of the oldest professional North American sports franchises. Originally competing as the Regina Rugby Club in 1910, the team name settled permanently on the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1946 before joining the nascent CFL in 1958. The Roughriders made the playoffs every year from 1962 to 1976, winning their first Grey Cup in 1966. Overall, the team has made 19 Grey Cup appearances, with four wins including 1989, 2007 and 2013. Across their history, the Saskatchewan Roughriders roster has consisted of 20 Canadian Football Hall of Famers, seven Annis Stukus Trophy winners for the CFL’s top head coach and and four Most Outstanding Players, as well as four recipients of the Most Outstanding Canadian Award, six Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Awards, three John Agro Special Teams Awards and two Most Outstanding Defensive Player Awards. The Roughriders’ rivalry with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers has led to two annual matchups between the traditional Labour Day Weekend game and the now-dubbed Banjo Bowl the following weekend.

Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium
Rider Nation have been gathering for Saskatchewan Roughriders home games at Mosaic Mosaic Stadium since its opening in 2017. The 33,500-seat venue replaced the Roughriders’ long-standing home at the historic Taylor Field after eight decades. The spectator-friendly setting is complete with sunken-bowl seating and tiled panels that partially cover three sides of the field to protect from the Prairie weather. Fans set a capacity record at 33,506 during a 2019 Saskatchewan Roughriders matchup against rivals the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2022, Mosaic Stadium hosted the Grey Cup for the first time, marking the fourth time the championship game was held in the city of Regina.

Even though the riders didn't win it was a fun day. Stands due to Tue cancelations were a little bare but the spirits were great.
There was a smoke advisory at game time. No information on the smoke rating or what it had to be to start the game. Updates were 45 minutes apart and very brief with no accurate information. 3 hours 45 minutes later, game cancelled. CFL announces they don't have a policy on this type of situation. So the fans take this in the wallet now. Nice going CFL.
Ok communication during the delay was problematic. Providing regular updates and timings for the next one would have enhanced everything. The fact that they were able to get everything ready for the Saturday is testament to the efforts of everyone involved. The Roughriders actual performance during the game…meh
Everything was great , only problem had was to download tickets at the stadium off my phone , but a real nice lady at the ticket window helped me out .
Riders fans live up to their reputation of being an active part of the game. loud and proud. Being a former BC resident, I valued both teams for good plays. Lions and Riders fans made the experience fun with good humoured banter. Kids enjoyed enough they want to return
We took in the whole experience arrived early, we had great seats to watch everything. The atmosphere is awesome and electric, the music was great. The best part was seeing the riders win!!!
Greatest game played at the greatest stadium by the greatest players for the greatest fans in my humble opinion
We had a wonderful time at Mosaic. The atmosphere was electric, music great, game great! Will be back!
Atmosphere was great, game was outstanding, wonderful seats. Can’t wait to come back.
First game ever for us! Next year hoping prices are lower so we’re able to sit in a lower section. Comfortable enough seats for me but I am small- not sure how comfy for a 6 footer, good enough view from way up there, can’t imagine sitting outside for a whole game in weather below + 10 or in the rain( I would never go in the cold). Food booths were out of a lot of food right after halftime. Small amount of gravy was soaked into the fries ( also out of poutine) . Thought hot dogs would be longer- grandson and I disappointed- were excited to have a ‘stadium dog’ but instead was just a regular little dog. Shuttles were organized very well. Staff at mosaic stadium customer service and at doors helpful showing us how to get to our section. Altho we couldn’t find the main elevator to take us up to the 5th. How exciting to be there in person and experience the game also the friendliness of strangers in the stands. Craxy last minute. Nice to have jumbotron for replays! Was a distraction often tho - caught ourselves watching the tron instead of watching it on the field. Fun fun fun evening! Beautiful weather Getting 2 tickets was confusing. Accidentally got inside the row seats instead outside seats 😩 bad knee so I didn’t want to have to squeeze past ppl to sit.
