Stanley Cup® Playoffs

After a hard-fought, 82-game regular season, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are when teams lay it all on the line to secure their legacies for years to come — and this season will be no different. The Playoffs will feature four exciting rounds, including the quarterfinals, semifinals, conference finals and, of course, the ultimate round, the Stanley Cup® Final. These best-of-seven series will still have you on your feet cheering for your favorite teams from both near and far. Last year’s thrilling Stanley Cup® Final saw the Florida Panthers® once again beat the Edmonton Oilers®, this time in a thrilling six-game series to become the 2025 Stanley Cup® Champions.

Stanley Cup Final History

Stanley Cup® History

The Stanley Cup® Trophy dates back to March 18, 1892, when Lord Kilcoursie of the Ottawa Rebels hockey club announced on Lord Stanley’s behalf that, “It would be a good thing if there were a challenge cup which should be held from year to year by the champion hockey team in the Dominion (of Canada).” Shortly thereafter, Lord Stanley purchased a silver cup measuring 7.5 inches in height and 11.5 inches in width. In 1893, the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association Hockey Club was awarded as the first champion of the Amateur Hockey Association of Canada. Today, the Stanley Cup® Trophy is the most prestigious award in the NHL®. Over the history of the Cup, the Montreal Canadiens have won 24 times, the Toronto Maple Leafs 13 times, and the Detroit Red Wings 11 times.
